About Us
The double entendre. Quantum Information normally means the type of information that describes elementary particles in physics, which is uncertain or probabilistic information with an exotic property of entanglement. However, this website also uses the term in the sense of an arrival information display at an airport, which is familiar textual information about arrivals.
New Mexico’s Normal. We usually think of quantum information as ones and zeros, but Quantum Information is probabilistic. The red curve in our logo shows is the normal distribution in mathematics, which could represent the probability of a digit in a computer being a one versus a zero. In addition, the author lives in New Mexico, which is to the west of the Sandia mountains. The profile of the Sandia mountains has the shape of a normal distribution, more or less. A parameter σ (sigma) defines the scale or standard deviation of a Gaussian curve.

The qinf.org website is in the prototype phase of a resource for people to learn about the ongoing impact of quantum computing and quantum information on society.
